We have been following the Hold the Jackpot series from Wazdan for a good while now, and we are always intrigued to see what twist they’ve come up with for each new release. Burning Sun comes with a 4×4-sized grid that’s placed in front of a massive, burning star, and it comes with a Pay Anywhere system. You can choose your preferred volatility and pace from 3 settings as usual, and winnings can be gambled.

The Sticky to Infinity Mystery symbols remain in place to not only help trigger the Hold the Jackpot bonus round, but also to reveal different bonus symbols at the end of it. They can reveal the brand new Multiplier Collector symbol, among other things, and filling all 16 positions during the feature awards the 5,000x Grand Jackpot. This is also the game’s win cap, and the bonus buy menu comes with a Double Extreme option this time.

Burning Sun Slot Features

You need between 10 and 16 matching symbols anywhere in view to win, and the symbols pay between 10 and 200 x your stake for 16 in view. On the lower end, they pay between 0.4 and 2 x your stake for 10 in view. The Wild symbol steps in for pay symbols to help complete wins, but it holds no value of its own.

You need at least 6 bonus symbols of any kind to trigger the Hold the Jackpot round, and landing 4 or 5 bonus symbols at the same time makes them sticky for one spin. Also, the Mystery and Mystery Jackpot bonus symbols are Sticky To Infinity, which means they remain on the reels until the Hold the Jackpot bonus triggers. They are revealed at the end of the feature.

The Hold The Jackpot Bonus Round plays out on 16 reel positions, and all new bonus symbols that appear resets the respin tally to 3 each time. The regular cash bonus symbols come with prizes between 1x and 15x your stake, and the Mini, Minor and Major jackpot symbols are worth 20x, 50x and 150x your stake, respectively. You can win multiple jackpots per round.

The Mystery Symbol will turn into a random bonus symbol of any kind at the end of the feature, while the Mystery Jackpot symbol will turn into either of the jackpot symbols. Both symbols can also turn into a Collector symbol that collects all regular cash prizes in view. It then boosts the total sum by a random multiplier between x1 and x20. Fill the grid with symbols to win the 5,000x Grand Jackpot, which is also the game’s win cap.

The Bonus Buy menu is available in some jurisdictions, but not in the UK for sure. It comes with 5 options this time, as a brand new Double Extreme option has been added:

Review Summary

Wazdan has a distinct style that looks like nothing else out there, and it might be an acquired taste for some players. It took us a while to warm up to their games at least, but now we quite enjoy what they have to offer. Burning Sun is a pretty typical installment in that regard, and you get the star-focused cosmic they seem to favor. As usual, you get a few innovative twists, and most notably the Collector symbol multiplier.

The Pay Anywhere system can lead to small to decent base game payouts only, and you’ll definitely need the Hold the Jackpot feature to close in on the 5,000x win cap. The collector symbol multiplier can do solid damage if you’re lucky, but keep in mind that it collects only regular cash symbols. Filling the grid is perhaps your best shot at cracking the win cap, and overall Burning Sun is an enjoyable installment in the Hold the Jackpot range.
