Gnaw’n Gold is a cartoon logging comedy. A hard-hatted beaver in blue dungarees runs the show from the edge of the screen, hauling logs and lighting sticks of dynamite, while a grumpy bear in a lumberjack shirt turns up on the reels as the Scatter. Behind the grid there is a sunlit pine forest with a river, a dam of felled logs, and deer wandering in the background – bright, friendly, and a long way from the usual dark-and-serious high-volatility slot.

THE Gem Master puts you in a jeweller’s workshop rather than the usual mine shaft. The reels sit in a stone-walled room with a cluttered workbench to the left, trays of cut stones on the shelves, and an open treasure chest spilling colour into the right-hand corner. It is a warm, dimly lit setting, and it gives the bright blue diamonds on the reels something to glow against.

3 Scarabs Of Rebirth drops the reels into a sandstone temple at sunset, with pyramids on the horizon and columns framing the grid on both sides. Ancient Egypt is well-trodden ground, but the presentation here is clean and bright rather than gloomy, and the golden symbols read clearly against the deep green reel background even on a phone screen.
