The base game revolves around the Wild Respins concept, which is triggered by both incrementing Multiplier Wilds and Countdown Wilds. The multiplier wild increments according to the “lazy caterer’s sequence”, which is akin to Yggdrasil’s DoubleMax system. Countdown Wilds can prolong the session with up to 4 respins per symbol, and you get a higher hit rate of both symbols in the bonus round. If anyone can conjure up powerful Norse mythology themes that are deeply rooted in our collective psyche it should be Yggdrasil, and they do not disappoint with Ragnawolves WildEnergy. The symbol values are admittedly not all that high in this game, but that’s necessary to balance out what can easily turn into a monster wild multiplier on lucky days. Incrementing multipliers are not to be underestimated after all, as we have already seen with Yggdrasil’s DoubleMax series.

The fiery backdrop adds to the mystical appeal of this game, and you get to see the Yggdrasil World Tree itself behind the grid in the bonus round. Getting more of both kinds of wilds can certainly do serious damage, but we wish there was a way to also trigger the top-tier bonus buy round organically. It’s hard to complain when you get tons of lucrative extra spins via the wild respins features, however, and this can lead to solid payouts up to 10,000x your stake.
